Leo smells coffee beans roasting in a friend’s skillet and gets hooked.

We met over coffee in Old Town. In 2020, right after we got married, we couldn’t travel for a honeymoon, so we bought a commercial roaster instead and started roasting in our basement.

We almost named it Linchpin, after Seth Godin’s book: the unsung part that holds everything together. Pull the pin and the wheel falls off. But it felt like too much to explain, so Brittani had a better idea: Dream Chasers. Coffee that fuels people who are chasing something. (The Linchpin lives on as our espresso blend.)

We open Valletta Espresso Bar, powered by Dream Chasers Coffee, inside Valletta Port, 682 N. St. Asaph St., Old Town North. Soft launch: January 19.

On April 17 the restaurant that housed our café closes abruptly. We lost a location, but not the coffee, and not each other.
